Top right and centre bottom were also forbidden shots but my camera had a mind of it's own!!
The Sistine Chapel ceiling(bottom centre), painted by Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512, is one of the most renowned artworks of the High Renaissance. The ceiling is that of the large Sistine Chapel built within the Vatican by Pope Sixtus IV, begun in 1477 and finished by 1480.
The Last Judgment(top right) is a mural by Michelangelo on the altar wall of the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. It took eight years to complete. Michelangelo began working on it three decades after finishing the ceiling of the chapel.

Nice work
Tracy: Thank you very much
So beautiful! Love all of the colors.
Tracy: Thank you so much Jen
Masterpieces of art, these are the real treasures, Michelangelo was laying on his back for years to paint this...and the biggest problem for him was, to take distance from his paintings, a painter needs to step back from his work so once in a while to get a good 'overvíew', thanks for sharing and I would have bailed you out....
You captured these great and put them in a nice collage. BTW I have the same problems as you, with the camera...a mind of its own...how come? Have a great weekend Musketeer...
Tracy: Astrid they would need to catch me first
You know me Musketeer POINT and PRESS Enjoy your weekend...
The chapel is breathtaking. I must go and see this myself. Have a good weekend.
Tracy: You really must it's well worth it
That one at the bottom is famous. Wasn't it by Damian Hirst, Tracy? You bad girl, snapping where it is forbidden...chuckle chuckle.
Tracy: A bit before his time Chad!!!
LOL thanks
Now I understand why they don't want you taking pictures. It will now be known that the Vatican is peddling pornography.
Another great composition - the bottom half is almost as if you have re-done the ceiling.
Tracy: Louis you have dropped by to early this morning as I know you like to comment after Ray, so you can giggle to yourself all day
Thanks for your lovely comment but there's no way I would be on my back all day painting a ceiling for anybody
Beautiful presentation of these masterpieces. Thanks for sharing it Tracy.
Tracy: Thanks Richard
Accoridng to your photo's is whole vatican City one perfect city.
Tracy: You are so kind Jeroen, thank you

I didn't expect the colors to be this vivid. Must be the relatively recent restauration. I really need to visit.
Tracy: A bit of PP was used Martin to enhance the colours.
So beautiful, actually I don't think beautiful captures its essence. Let me just say, WOW!
Tracy: Your so kind Maria, thank you so much.
joli montage coloré.
Tracy: Merci Bien
Great collage !!! I love these paintings ... Great tribute to them !!!
Tracy: Thank you Ann
Lovely presentation Tracy.
Tracy: Thnk you so much Bridge
When I was in the Sistine Chapel a few years back, Tracy, my camera had the same mind of its own...in spite of all the guards! In the age of digital cameras, what are they gonna do? Rip the "film" out??
Tracy: Ha let them try LOL. I just don't see the point any more as a flash is also made redudant if you have a good camera Right??
Thanks Ginnie for taking the time to comment on your vacation
Strewth!
A whole art gallery cum museum presented in a single post! Ambitious...but, I think you pulled it off, Tracy. Every time I see this image ... centre, bottom ... I think the older, bearded guy is saying to the younger guy, something like: "I think you will do well in the [bodybuilding] competition, Kid, but you are going to have to put a roll of socks in your underwear or you are going to lose some points".
Tracy: LOL Ray he sure looks a bit small in the manhood department.
Thanks for your fun comment
That Mike Angelo: he could draw a picture, eh Tracy!
Tracy: On his back most of the time too Chris
Thanks
Beautiful; especially love the perspective of the top image and the fact that you managed to photograph it without tourist milling around!
Tracy: The top image was off limits Kevin so I was a great chance to get a people free shot.
Thanks for the comment
Nice collage Tracy. I particularly like the top left picture which would stand alone very well.
I have warned the National Trust about you!! (and Astrid
Tracy: LOL Bill, Astrid and I are a force to be reckoned with.
Thanks for your comment.
Tracy, stunning arrangement of the photos. Great impact. Love all the other photos of the vatican as well.
Tracy: Thank you so much Helen for your comment. I hope you enjoy your visit to Korea and bring lots of pictures back with you for us to see
Postcarding this one for us just gives us a brief taste of what you must have spent a long time looking at, if not, photographing! Wonderful.
Tracy: I was looking around and taking pictures of this place for approx four hours!!
Thanks for your comment Alexandra
Beautiful!! To think this is where Pope Benedict lives...and I just saw him on CNN about to give mass at Yankee stadium.
I love how you put this together, Tracy. The colors are unbelievable! |
