Looks snug enough. What do people do for a living there? Agriculture? I always wonder with the really small places (of which this seems to be one).
Tracy: Farming was the main living, but some travelled and were miners. Today we have a mixture of proffesions, from farming to dentists, bankers, builders and so on.
It is a very sort after area. House's don't come up for sale very often.
It is absolutely charming, especially the mossy stonework and that smashing blue sky. What a lovely place to grow up.
Tracy: It really was Red Pen. Thanks for your comment.
Your roots go very deep in this village, Tracy. It totally astounds me in this day and age to find someone who is still in the same place where they were born. AND your mother!
So now I can picture you coming out YOUR front door down the street and yelling out to your mom, telling her to send your daughter home.
Tracy: Yes Ginnie that's about the long and short of it, no need for telephones
There are several families who still live in the village as do there children and grandchildren. You will see what it's like for yourself one day
Tracy, you are so lucky to have lived there. I'm jealous. Very cute, cozy, all of those things. Wonderful capture.
Tracy: Arrr thanks Kay you are so kind
This is a great picture of a great memory for you, I go with Ginnie her words.....it must be a nice place to live otherwise you would have moved years a ago....
This picture just breathes serenity, the blue sky is a winner....this is a good place to be....cherish the toughts. I can 'picturit' the stuff you did...and only can smile with a big smile doing so.....I was a disaster for the neighbourhood too .....
Tracy: Yes Astrid I was NO angel as you can imagine
You WILL one day walk through that door for yourself mijn vriend. Have a lovely holiday you deserve it
What a charming setting to grow up in! Can I borrow that perfect blue sky for all my washed out shots?
Tracy: LOL it was a one off Jewlya, back to the dull windy weather again. I think it must have been the earthquake we had.
Thanks for your comment.
Keep the tour going Tracy: it's very well done
Tracy: Thanks Chris, last one on Monday.
Tracy. You can tell your mum that she keeps her windows very clean.
Tracy: LOL Richard I will. It will make her day
This series is becoming a wonderful sort of biography, Tracy.
Tracy: Yes I think I might write a book next. Well may be not. Thanks.
Love this photo - as I have for the whole series. Are there any buildings/places in the village which are associated with historic events?
These photos should be collected as an essential part of your family history, with your own memories attached to them. Can you tell I'm a family history nut?
Tracy: We have a well just outside the village that was built for a jubilee but I am not sure which one as my mother used to carry water from there. I will have to find out. It's all over grown which is a shame.
You've grown up in beautyful environment Tracy.
Great lighting and colours here!
Tracy: Thank you Richard
Love the smoke comming from the chimney. It's a lovely capture of your original home and ditto that gorgeous blue sky.
Tracy: It is nice to see the coal fire roaring away, just looking at it made you feel warm inside
Thanks Aussie.
Must give a tremendous notion of security. Personally I had the restless gene and was off as soon as I could go ;o)
Tracy: It's funny Mike but I love to travel and I am always planning my next adventure, but love to come back home.
Thanks
Oh well I don't see the reason why you left this place. Looks snug and it must be nice if someone else keeps looking after you. Composition is great and so are the colours.
What you want to watch is for halo's when you do contrasting. It just shows at places around the tree to the right and the chimneys. A step or 2 less contrasting and it will be perfect.
Tracy: Marriage was the reason I left this cosy place. Hey but only moved 500yards down the road, it's in spitting distance!!
Thanks for the advice Louis
I think I just saw your Mum waving to you from the first floor window...cuppa tea must be ready for you.
I really like this picture, Tracy.
Tracy: I hope she has prepared lunch too Ray!!
Not sure whats wrong with your page but the picture doesn't open and no comments can be left. I am sure it is a stunner anyway
Thanks for sharing this souvenir with us ...
Tracy: Your very welcome Ann
Awwww. What a lovely piece of personal history. I also lived in my parents' house for over 20 years too. Wonderful capture.
Tracy: Youer so kind, Thanks kunle.
crisp blue sky
Tracy: Thanks Chantal
Sooo beautiful the sky is so blue, love the small amount of smoke comming from the stack
Tracy: Thanks you so much Vintage.
I'm still enjoying your guided tour Tracy. It's nice to have roots.
Tracy: Glad you are hanging in there Bill, Monday will see the end
It is quite something to live in the village where you grew up and to have your parents still living there too. It must give you a really strong sense of being rooted there.
Ingrid
Tracy: Yes Ingrid it gives you a sense of belonging. One of my brothers also lives in the village. What is so funny is that people who have moved away come back or want to come back. We class people who have not lived in the village all there life as outsiders even if they have lived there for forty years or so.
Thanks for your comment
beautiful scene Tracy, how far did you say the pub was
Tracy: Just across the field!!! Have started with out you Tim. Your two pints behind..
Thanks for your comment and hope you have a great weekend.
Very picturesque. Love the colours in this photo. Well captured!
Tracy: Thank you so much Noa, and thanks for dropping in on my blog
to me that's so fascinating! I never lived in a small town, except while in Switzerland and I want to go back to that so badly...
It's so beautiful... You are definitely a lucky gal.
Tracy: I hope you get your wish Jen... If you get the chance just do it.
I am off to Rome on Tuesday, another place off my to visit list!! Thanks for your comment, and yes I am very lucky and I know it...
It is lovely - post card perfect. As you already know, you were very lucky to have called this place home. How nice that you still live in the same village. My 29th move is coming up, and I'm not talking just moving homes in the same town or even state for that matter! I'm looking forward to settling down and growing routes.
Tracy: Martie you bring tears to my eyes. I hope you get your wish one day. It's important to have roots somewhere. Where will you be posted next??
Thanks for your comment
Looks peaceful there.
Tracy: I really is Laura, thanks
Nice place to live or not? It looks very nice to live
Tracy: The best place to live Robbie, thats why I still live in this village
Thanks very much for your comment
