What a guy: he's teaching his horse to dance!
Tracy: LOL Chris and no handed too.
Thanks.
Is this a reproduction or just really well preserved? I like the weird expression on his face most of all
Tracy: It's a replica Martin. Replaced the original in 1981.
Thanks
Great photo! The detail is wonderful.
Tracy: Thanks a million Martie
Very nice. So realistic ... right down to the creases in the horses neck. Great details.
Tracy: Cheers Helen
He has a great view over the crowd...love the details in the statue, he is kind of saying: "look mom, I can do the horsriding without using my hands....."
Great picture.
Tracy: LOL Astrid a performing horse and rider
Enjoy Texel mijn vriend
LOL at Astrid! I thought the same thing: "Look, Ma. No hands!"
Now I'm trying to remember if I ever saw this fella? Hmmm. If I did, he never made an impression, I guess. Good job at finding and capturing him, Tracy!
Tracy: He is situated in the square as you exit the forum. The mayors office is located in the building behind the statue and the other surrounding buildings are museum's(CapitolinI). At the front of the statue you over look part of the city and a lot of steps leading down to the main road.
Thanks Ginnie
Marcus Aurelius? The inscription on the pedestal says it is Tracy Weston who lived 2008 bC. It must be bC if I look at the fashion.
Great picture and detail.
Tracy: I have been reincarnated Louis did I forget to mention that?? Sorry. LOL
Thanks.
Naughty of you Tracy to scratch your name on the marble. Good photograph of the statue though.
Tracy: I always like to leave my mark Chad LOL. Once seen or heard never forgotten!!
Excellent image Tracy
Tracy: Thanks Vintage
Beautiful capture Tracy. I like the details and the tones!

What a great statue..and a story to go with it.
You've definitely got me itching to travel!!!!
Tracy: You would love it Marcie. Thanks
Nice piece of art you show us here!
Tracy: Thanks Robbie
I think this young Marcus is quite aware of his place in Society. Never thought of you as a graffiti vandal Tracy...
;-) richard
Tracy: Richard I always like to leave an impression of some kind LOL
Thanks
I didn't know you did grafitti, Tracy! The horse looks very lifelike but the man looks wooden - perhaps its the funny hairdo.
Ingrid
Tracy: Leave you mark Ingrid and you will never be forgotten LOL
Thanks
Good old Marcus Aurelius. there's lots of quote website on him. seems he had a lot to say
This is a good one "Let not your mind run on what you lack as much as on what you have already". Sound advice!
Tracy: It sure is Bill, he was a wise man.
Thanks for your comment and help
Pity about that darned flag on top of the building, A wonderful statue isn't it. Any idea who sculpted/cast it?
Tracy: It really commands the square Ellie. I am sorry but I do not know who sculpted this statue, all I do know is that is is a replica and was replaced in 1981
Impressive statue particularly of the horse. Such beautiful creatures. The ornate structure in the background is beautiful
Tracy: Thanks you so much
Impressive statue Tracy.
Tracy: Cheers Chris
Oh, love it, nice one, Hon! Marcus Aurelius is a hero of mine.
